Turn out the lights, the party’s over…
When your team is 3-12 entering the last game of the season, it’s hard to find many positives in a dismal year. However, there are signs that the Jets will be in a position to improve next year with a solid foundation of young and veteran players.
First of all, I hope all of you out there had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones. Although it hasn’t been a great time for the Jets and their fans, hopefully our own lives and those of our friends and families have been enriched by our time together.
I’m still trying to get over yesterday’s infuriating loss. That was the seventh loss this season by seven points or less–that is truly the mark of a bad team. If you can’t find a way to win when the game is up for grabs, that is pure evidence that your personnel is not very good.
If you needed any further evidence that the 2007 New York Jets are a bad football team, all you need is to point to this game. I haven’t paid much attention to the Jets this week as I, like most of us, have been hurriedly finishing up my holiday shopping as well as wrapping up some projects at work so I can take some time off this coming week and simply relax.
The Jets have been getting a lot of praise this morning for their effort against the Patriots yesterday. Most pundits have been saying that the Jets played the Pats tough and their defensive scheme, featured by the disguising of who would be rushing Tom Brady, made things difficult for the Pats offense. Although many Jet fans did not expect the Jets could have won this game, the fact of the matter is that the Jets could have won this game. And that’s what makes it so disappointing.
The word for today’s game is pride.
