Monday morning musings

jetsvstitans.jpgI’m still trying to get over yesterday’s infuriating loss.  That was the seventh loss this season by seven points or less–that is truly the mark of a bad team. If you can’t find a way to win when the game is up for grabs, that is pure evidence that your personnel is not very good.

With yesterday’s loss, they Jets are still in the running for the second pick in the 2008 Draft–not something to be proud of, but this team needs a wholesale makeover, and the best way to do it is through the draft. In addition, Chad Pennington has played well enough in the last two weeks to bolster his value in the open market and, as I said earlier this year, he could bring back a second-round pick. Couple that with Jonathan Vilma rumored to be on his way out as well, the Jets could end up with a stockpile of picks which could help them get better right away.

The last game of the season is against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by our old pal Herman Edwards. After leading his team to the playoffs last season, the Chiefs have fallen off the wagon this year and are 4-11. The NFL has decided to “un-flex” this game from next Sunday night to Sunday afternoon at 4:15, and if more than half of Giants Stadium is filled, I’ll be shocked.
