Despite an increased security presence as well as a uniformed police patrol, the Giants Stadium Gate D controversy over fan behavior at halftime has risen again.
Various reports indicate that despite the efforts made by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, hundreds of fans converged on the Gate D ramps and chanted at women to take off their tops. In addition, there were some reports of objects being thrown at people as well as spitting. To make matters worse, a few women who were thought to be instigating the crowd had to be escorted away from the area.
Obviously, the message here is that you can’t reason with a bunch of drunken, immature idiots. Plus, the increased security presence did not prevent this situation from happening again. Now there is talk of the access ramps being closed off at halftime at the next Jet home game on December 30, which could lead to these same knuckleheads causing trouble while in their seats.
Enough is enough! If it were up to me, I would send in the riot squad and throw these drunken louts into the paddy wagon. If any of them are stupid enough to mix it up, then the riot squad officers will have every justification to use their billy clubs or any other weapons to subdue these jerks. This is an embarrasement and has to stop now, or else it will grow worse and innocent people, even kids, could risk serious injury.
