Bullet Points, Vol. 14

  • Courtesy of The New York TimesSome Jet players are feeling “insulted” that they’ve been listed as a 1-point underdog to the Dolphins this Sunday. Well, let’s see–you’re 2-9, you just came off a drubbing at the hands of the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, plus you beat the lowly Dolphins by only three points at home earlier this year. Do you see where I’m going here? The players should just shut up and play and, hopefully, win a game they should win.
  • It’s hard to find many positives when your team is 0-11, but the Dolphins organization is waxing enthusiastic over some of their young players on defense, such as lineman Rodrique Wright and safety Jason Allen. Don’t look now, but in another year or two, this defense could be a very solid group. Of course, this team needs to re-build it’s offense, starting with a quarterback. Think they may be interested in an Oxford-educated veteran, who lost his starting job earlier this year, from the tri-state area?
  • Remember when ESPN’s Chris Berman used tor refer to games between the Packers and the Buccaneers in the late 80s to early 90s, when both teams were horrid, as the “Bay of Pigs”? He may have to shift his focus to this Sunday’s Jet-Dolphin game–a 2-9 team facing an 0-11 team. Hell, even I don’t want to watch this game, but I have to–it’s my job. If this game gets a 2.0 television rating in New York, I will be shocked.
