Jets vs. Cowboys Preview

Happy Thanksgiving!I don’t know if I’m in the holiday spirit or what, but I have a strange feeling that the Jets are going to play the Cowboys very tough today. Apparently, the Cowboys have been feeling very confident about themselves lately, and since today’s game comes smack dab in between their game against the Redskins last Sunday and next week’s game against the Packers, today’s content has all the trappings of a classic “sandwich” game. What that means is that the Cowboys could come out taking the Jets lightly and put on a flat performance.

Of course, the Jets are going to have to bring their “A+” game today. They need to continue to establish the run with Thomas Jones, and since the Cowboys secondary has been less than stellar this season, Kellen Clemens could take advantage with some play-action passes deep down the middle.

On defense, the Jets are going to have to contain Tony Romo within the pocket. If he gets to the outside, he will kill you. So, the d-line as well as the outside linebackers will need to put a speed rush on and keep Romo from scrambling. In addition, the secondary will need to get physical with Terrell Owens. It would be nice to see Darrelle Revis stick T.O. early and often and keep him off his game.

To sum it up, I really think the Jets can keep it close today. Maybe I’m too giddy from Sunday’s win against the Steelers, but I think that win may inspire the team to play with some passion for the rest of the season.

Since today is Thanksgiving Day, I’d like to wish all of you a happy holiday, and hope you will enjoy it with your family and friends. Let’s give a thought to those that we love who cannot be with us today, wherever they are.

In addition, since today is a holiday, I won’t be writing my usual recap right after the game is over. If you will indulge me, I will take the rest of today off and write an extended recap tomorrow.

One more thing: the traffic and viewership on this blog has been steadily increasing in the three months since it’s initial launch, and I cannot thank you folks enough. Please continue to come in and visit, and I invite you to comment on anything I post here, whether you agree with me or not. All the best to you today, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving and Go Jets!
