Just heard a soundbite from WFAN in New York that had Coach Mangini declaring Kellen Clemens as the starting quarterback this Sunday against the Redskins.
In the soundbite, he said something to the effect that Chad Pennington did not lose the starting job but rather Clemens earned it. He can couch it any way he wants to, and it’s apparent that he doesn’t want Pennington to get ripped any more than he already has. The Jet fans now have to realize that Clemens is going to be learning on the job, and he’s sure to take his lumps. However, he may have a terrific upside, so we’ll see what he’s got starting this Sunday.
