Another week, another loss. Words can’t properly describe today’s game, but I’ll take a stab at it. How about these?
sad, pathetic, disgusting, gutless, effortless, dumb, mismanagement, stupid, careless, incompetent, laughingstock
This Jet team is all of those plus a lot more. To top it off, the Bills score their only touchdown of the game on a deep pass that appeared to be picked off by Darelle Revis only to be wrestled away by Lee Evans, who scampered into the end zone untouched. How low can it go?
For the umpteenth time I’ve said this, the Jets did not give the ball to Thomas Jones when the situation called for it. Coach Mangini, who has lost a lot of credibility with me due to his attitude and stubbornness, insisted on trying to get Chad Pennington in a position to make a play, but Pennington cannot lead this team any more. He is incapable of throwing a football with any strength, and defenses realize it and they force the Jets into playing “small ball”, and that means no scoring opportunities.
Mangini finally, mercifully, put in Kellen Clemens with less than two minutes to go, but that was an impossible situation to put him in, and his two interceptions really don’t mean that much. It is obvious that a switch in the quarterback position has to be made, and hopefully Mangini will get off of his high horse and announce it tonight, and not even wait until Monday’s press conference.
At this point, it wouldn’t even matter if the Jets win another game. You might as well let Clemens take his lumps now, as well as let the other young players get some experience. David Harris did a good job today at linebacker, and Revis, despite that last pass play with Evans, did some nice things as well.
The Redskins come in to the Meadowlands next week, and they will be out for blood after their shellacking by the Patriots. Oh joy…
