Monday morning musings

Paul PoslusznyThe sun is definitely shining a little brighter today after the win against the Dolphins. There are definitely areas of concern, mainly on defense. The lack of a pass rush has hurt a lot so far, and they haven’t exactly been stellar against the run, either. Granted, the next game is against the Bills, and J.P. Losman, their starting quarterback, hurt his knee yesterday, and it looks like he’s going to be out a few games. So, Trent Edwards, a rookie out of Stanford, stands to be the starter next Sunday. In other words, expect Marshawn Lynch to get the ball about 35 times, so let’s hope the d-line is prepared.

On defense, first-round pick linebacker Paul Posluszny broke his arm and is out for the year, and they have other players banged up as well. The Jets’ o-line looked good blocking for Thomas Jones yesterday, and one would expect that TJ will get the ball quite a few times.

At first glance, this looks like an extremely winnable game for the Jets, but they’ve had strange things happen to them up in Buffalo over the years, so they can’t take this game lightly. This could be the beginning of a nice run through the schedule with this game and the Giants the following week and the Bills again in a few weeks. We’ll see how it all unfolds.
