Well folks, this is make-or-break day. The Jets’ season rides on this game–if they win, it’s possible they can go on a little run and make it to the bye week on November 11 with a legitimate shot at a wild card slot. The schedule isn’t going to be kind, but for them to have a prayer, it starts today.
Offense–It goes without saying that Thomas Jones needs to have a big day. Zach Thomas is out, so if he can make his first cut forward, he could gain some solid yards today. Chad Pennington gets the start, and he should be able to get the ball into Coles’ and Cotchery’s hands with some regularity–the Dolphins secondary is nothing to write home about. If they can control the clock today, the points should follow.
Defense–The Jets DESPERATELY need a pass rush today. Dolphins QB Trent Green is still dangerous, but he is not very mobile, so if Shaun Ellis and Bryan Thomas can get some room on the outside, things will turn out good. Running back Ronnie Brown can be pesky, so DeWayne Robertson has to get some penetration inside.
Overall, this appears to be a good match-up for the Jets. They SHOULD win today. We’ll check back later and see.
